Do you have a large family?
My immediate family's fairly small: just my parents, my younger brother and me. But my extended family is enormous. My dad's one of six, so I've got more cousins than I can easily count, and when we all get together for a wedding it's quite an occasion.
Who are you closest to in your family?
Probably my mum. We've always been able to talk about pretty much anything, and people say I take after her, especially in the way I laugh. My brother and I are close too, but he's six years younger, so it's more of a protective relationship than a friendship.
Do you live with your family at the moment?
Yes, I still do. It's quite normal where I'm from to live at home until you get married, and to be honest it suits me for now. I save a lot on rent, and I get to see my parents every day, although I do sometimes miss having my own space.
What do you usually do together as a family?
The big one is dinner. However busy we are, we try to eat together in the evening, and that's when we find out what everyone's been up to. At weekends we sometimes visit relatives or go for a drive, but the evening meal is really the heart of family life for us.
Did you spend much time with your grandparents when you were younger?
Yes, a lot. My grandparents lived just round the corner, so I'd go there straight after school until my parents finished work. My grandmother taught me to cook and told me endless stories about her own childhood, and I think that's where my interest in history comes from.
Do you think families are as close today as they were in the past?
Physically, maybe not. People move away for work far more than they used to, so relatives don't see each other as often. But I think the emotional bond is still there. My cousins and I are scattered all over the country, yet our group chat is busy every single day.
Would you like to have a big family of your own one day?
Not a very big one, no. Two children would be ideal, I think. Raising kids is expensive these days, and I'd want to give each of them enough time and attention. But I'd definitely want them to grow up close to their cousins, the way I did.
