The institute workspace
Your institute gets a private workspace, headed with your organisation’s name. Teachers see each student’s latest band per skill and who needs attention (inactive, not started, low or falling bands, overdue work), and can open any student’s attempt history and report. You can add students by email, and share notes, links, files and assigned tests with the whole institute or one cohort. Owner access to the workspace comes with your institute; extra staff logins are added by our team on request.

Every attempt produces a score report and answer review, and the student’s dashboard shows their band by skill and a study plan. Reports print with your institute’s name. Teachers can set or adjust the Writing and Speaking bands (Listening and Reading come from the answer key); the student sees the teacher’s band with the reason. For Speaking, teachers read the transcript, since recordings are not stored. Speaking is AI-assessed on each recorded answer and shown as a band range; the real test is a live interview with an examiner, so classroom speaking practice still matters.
Frequently asked questions
Which tests does the platform cover?
IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training, in the computer-delivered format. We do not support PTE, CELPIP or OET — we deliberately focus on IELTS only, so the exam interface, timing and question types stay accurate.
Is this the official IELTS test?
No. CD IELTS Prep is an independent practice platform. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the British Council, IDP Education or Cambridge University Press & Assessment. Band scores on the platform are practice estimates, not official IELTS results.
How is marking done — is it AI?
Listening and Reading are marked instantly by rule-based matching against each paper's answer key, with auditable band conversion — every mark can be traced. Writing is marked by AI against the four official criteria, with an estimated band for each; if AI marking is unavailable, a rule-based estimate is shown and labelled as one. Speaking is AI-assessed too: each recorded answer gets AI feedback shown as a band range, not a final Speaking band. A teacher can set or adjust the Writing and Speaking bands, and the student sees the teacher's band with the reason; Listening and Reading always come from the answer key. Every band is a practice estimate.
How much does it cost for an institute?
Contact us for institute pricing. Each student seat costs the same as an individual Pro plan, with free bonus seats on larger groups, so we confirm the exact seats and length with you rather than publishing a price list.
Can our teachers upload their own materials?
Teachers can share notes, links and files with the whole institute or one cohort, and assign tests from our library. They cannot add their own questions to the test library: the tests themselves — full mocks, Listening and Reading practice days, question-type drills, the writing bank and Speaking practice sets — come from CD IELTS Prep.
How do our students get access?
Your staff add students by email. Each student uses a free CD IELTS Prep account with that address and is seated in your institute, which unlocks everything Pro includes. Students sign in from any modern browser — there is nothing to install in your lab.
