Do you enjoy shopping?
It depends what I'm shopping for. Clothes shopping isn't really my thing, because I find crowded shops and changing rooms quite stressful. I do enjoy browsing a food market at the weekend, though, especially when the stalls let you taste things first.
How often do you go shopping?
I do a big food shop once a week, usually on a Sunday, and pop into the corner shop whenever I run out of something. Anything else, I tend to buy only when I actually need it, rather than going shopping for the sake of it.
Do you prefer shopping online or in shops?
Online, for most things. It saves time and it's easier to compare prices. Groceries are the exception, though. I like to choose my own fruit and vegetables, because whenever I've had them delivered, I've ended up with bruised bananas.
What kind of things do you like to shop for?
Food, mainly. I love picking up ingredients I haven't cooked with before, especially from market stalls. I'm also a sucker for stationery, like nice notebooks, even though I've got several at home that I've barely written in.
Did you go shopping with your family when you were a child?
Yes, I used to tag along with my mum on Saturday mornings. I remember being bored stiff while she tried things on, but I put up with it because she'd usually buy me a treat from the bakery on the way home.
Do you ever buy things you don't really need?
Occasionally, yes, and stationery's my main weakness, as I said. I've also been caught out by online sales once or twice, buying something just because it was half price. These days I try to wait a day before buying anything I hadn't planned to.
Do you think the way people shop will change in the future?
I think so. More and more shopping will probably move online, and I suspect some high streets will struggle. On the other hand, people still like the experience of going out, so I can see shops becoming places you visit for fun rather than out of necessity.
