Immigration consultants use CD IELTS Prep to give clients realistic IELTS General Training practice before they book the real test. Clients sit computer-delivered mock tests from home, Listening and Reading are marked instantly, and the practice bands show how far each client is from the level their programme asks for — for Canada, the minimum band per skill that IRCC publishes for each CLB level.
The problem: clients book the test before they are ready
A client's file can be complete except for one thing: the language result. Clients often book IELTS before they have sat a single timed paper, and one weak skill can hold back the whole application. For Canada, each skill is converted to a CLB level separately, so a strong overall band does not make up for a low Writing score.
Clients also make avoidable mistakes about the test itself. IRCC states that Express Entry candidates must take the IELTS General Training option, that it does not accept IELTS One Skill Retake for Express Entry, and that results must be less than two years old.
A consultancy is usually not set up to teach English. What it needs is a dependable place to send clients for realistic practice, and a way to see whether they are getting close.

IELTS General Training bands for each CLB level
IRCC converts each IELTS General Training skill to a Canadian Language Benchmark level on its own. A client reaches a CLB level only when every skill meets that level's minimum band.

Sit a baseline mock
The client sits a General Training mock in the computer-delivered format under real section timing, from home or your office.
Compare against the target
Set each practice band beside the level the programme needs — CLB 7, for example, means 6.0 in every skill on General Training.
Practise the weak skill
Skill-by-skill practice days, Writing tasks with band 9 answers and Speaking sets, with a study plan on the client's own dashboard.
Book when the numbers hold
Practice bands are estimates, so treat consistent results at the target as a readiness signal rather than a guarantee.
What it does not do
- We are not immigration advisers and nothing on the platform is immigration advice.
- Practice bands are estimates and are not accepted by IRCC or any other authority; only official test results are.
- IELTS only — no CELPIP, PTE Core, TEF Canada or TCF Canada practice.
- Institute setup is done with our team, not through a self-serve sign-up, so access starts after we have talked.
- Teachers can adjust Writing and Speaking bands, but not Listening or Reading, which come from the answer key. Every band, teacher-set or not, is a practice estimate and not an official IELTS result.
- Speaking feedback for students is AI feedback on each recorded answer, shown as a band range rather than a final score. A teacher can set the Speaking band after reading the transcript; recordings are not stored. The real Speaking test is a live interview with an examiner.

Which IELTS test do clients need for Express Entry?
IELTS General Training. IRCC's Express Entry language test page states that candidates must take the General Training option, that IELTS One Skill Retake is not accepted for Express Entry, and that results must be less than two years old. Confirm the current rules on the IRCC website before a client books.
What IELTS score is CLB 7?
6.0 in each of Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking on IELTS General Training, under IRCC's equivalency table. Each skill is converted separately, so all four must reach 6.0.
Can a practice score from CD IELTS Prep be used in an application?
No. Practice bands are estimates to help a client judge readiness. Immigration authorities accept only official test results from an approved test.
Do we need English teachers on staff to use it?
No. Listening and Reading are marked automatically, Writing gets an AI band estimate per criterion, and Speaking answers get AI feedback on each response. A trainer adds value, but the platform does not depend on one.
Can we put an IELTS calculator on our website?
Yes. The IELTS-to-CLB converter and the band score calculator can be embedded free with one line of code, as long as the credit line stays. They carry no cookies, analytics or ads.
How much does it cost for a consultancy?
